According to TURKSTAT Export data in 2018 , the total amount of exports realized in Adıyaman is 81,297,967 dollars. Clothing exports the largest share in total export amount with 29%. In the second place, Cereals export is 22% and its share in total exports is 22%. Export figures reached the highest figures of the last 7 years and  reached 542.849.875 Dollars in 2015. The main reason for the increase in exports during this period is the increasing number of firms, but also the export policies and the positive economic conjuncture. Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Iran, Iraq, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are among the Top Ten Countries exporting of Adıyaman.

According to 2017 data, the total import amount of Adıyaman was realized as 89.071.727 dollars. With 40% weight in total imports, agriculture and livestock products are the top of the imported products. In addition, radio, television, communication equipment and devices, chemicals and products, medical instruments; precision optical instruments and watch, paper and paper products, clothing, other non-metallic mineral products are other products that are imported.Adıyaman’s import figures show a very fluctuating trend is examined. Between the years of 2010-2017, the year 2012 was the year of the lowest import rate of seven years with 35.585.231 dollars. It is possible to say that the contraction that started in 2012 ended in 2017 with 89.071.727 dollars.

With 13,447,450 dollars, Thailand ranked first, with 13,447,450 dollars China ranked second and Burkina Faso with 10,678,717 dollars in third place with 10,998,413 dollars. Adıyaman, In the following years of 2012, with extremely low import and high export figures, showed a positive performance and a foreign trade surplus. Foreign trade surplus was approximately 7 times in 2014 and 13 times in 2015. This situation can be evaluated as an indicator of Adiyaman’s success in exports in recent years.

 

In 1954, Adıyaman, which gained the status of provincial, consisted of workshop type industrial enterprises. The transition period to the factory type industrial enterprises started with the establishment of Adıyaman Pamuklu Dokuma Sanayi T.A.Ş. in 1955 to establish and operate cotton and gin factories. However, the plant was able to start production in 1967. Following the establishment of this facility, the cement factory in 1976 and the milk factory and meat combi boiler were established in 1977, and the industrialization process of the city gained momentum. The 1990s is a period in which Adiyaman is experiencing modern industrialism. The support of the state by industrial investments has led to the increase in the investments of the private sector and the foundation of many new enterprises. The establishment of the Adiyaman Organized Industrial Zone in 1991 made an important contribution to the development of the industry in this period. When we examined the Adiyaman industry, which has made significant progress since 1990s, in terms of the enterprises it has; 43,2% of industrial enterprises are micro, 37,3 % are small, 10,8% are medium-sized and 2,5% are large-scale enterprises. There are 449 enterprises that obtained Industrial Registration Certificate in the city center and districts. All of these enterprises are in actual production and the investments in textile and food sector in industrial investments are noteworthy.

There are four different organized industrial zones in Adıyaman province.These are
